About the Sights

Christiansborg Palace
Home to Denmark's three supreme powers: the executive power, the legislative power and the judicial power. It is the only location to have all three powers housed in one building. The palace contains the Royal Reception Rooms, the Queen's Library, the Sovereign in Council rooms, the Chapel, Parliament, the Supreme Court and the Prime Minister's office.

Amalienborg Palace
The Danish royal family's winter home. Four of the palace facades are of identical classical architectural style situated in an 8-sided courtyard.

The Little Mermaid Statue
The Little Mermaid statue is situated upon a rock in the Copenhagen harbour at Langelinie. The statue's head was modeled after Danish prima ballerina Ellen Price. However, she refused to pose in the nude so sculptor Edvard Eriksen's wife, Eline Eriksen, posed for the body portion. The statue is an iconic figure in Copenhagen and is the city's most visited tourist attraction.

The Black Diamond (The Royal Library)
The Danish Royal Library is referred to as the Black Diamond because of its appearance. Its exterior is covered in black marble and glass. It is formed by two black cubes that are tilted over a portion of the street.

Holmen
Holmen is a former naval base situated between Zealand and the northern tip of Amager.

The Copenhagen Opera House
The Opera House is the national opera house of Denmark. It was built in 2005 and is considered one of the most modern opera houses in the world, as well as one of the most expensive ones ever built.
